I am so excited to be able to do a girly nursery this go-around! I love design, interiors, DIY projects, and PINK, so this is a dream come true for sure. These are just a few elements/inspiration pieces that I’m building on for Little Miss’s nursery, so I’ll break down what little bit I have. And then I’ll post as it comes together.
Nursery theme: I came up with a Peach & Gold Woodland idea. Feminine and sweet, woodsy and rustic, with a touch of vintage glam. It looks awesome, in my head!
Wall color: Either Benjamin Moore Whispering Peach or Pink harmony (the lighter chip pictured)
Crib: I have a white Ikea crib that I’m going to do a gold treatment on. The lovely people at Benjamin Moore helped me come up with a regime to get an antiquated gold look. I don’t want it to look like a 14K gold-plated crib, I want it to look a little more roughed up. I just recently found this sweet oval frame from the Pottery Barn Outlet that was the perfect gold, so I brought it in to show them what I was talking about. After playing around a bit and mixing different colors, they were able to match it perfectly.
Fabric: Still working on it. The peach vintage deer fabric is what I’m going to use for my changing pad. Then I’m thinking solid ivory linen for the crib, with a romantic billowy crib skirt. Still would love to find an accenting metallic fabric for a an accent pillow or something.
This is the gold treatment for the crib that I tried out on these fake antlers ($12 at Hobby Lobby). It’s a primer, then a gold metallic latex, then an acrylic black glaze on top. It is P E R F E C T. Because every newborn baby girl needs a set of gold antlers, right?
I found this dresser that has the perfect, exactly-matching gold trim at Sheffield’s Antiques. I found it a week before I was going to find out if it was a girl, but I knew it would be too feminine for a little boy. So, I explained my situation to the antique mall staff and begged them to hold it for me for a week. Ha! They didn’t hold it that long, but it survived the week and was one of the first things I bought once we found out.
I *think* am going to make this changing pad tray for the dresser but with the metallic gold treatment, and then have the changing pad covered in the vintage deer fabric above. That’s the plan anyway.
That’s all I got for now! You can follow my “For the Bebe” Pinterest boards to see what else I’m cooking up for this sweet girl!
